Fat Little Piggies...

With 5 faucets each you can imagine how they are gaining and growing by leaps and bounds.
I keep on looking at their noses as the color comes in and still thinking both are liver spotted.

I weighed the girls yesterday and Girl #1 was 1 lb 6 1/8 oz and Girl 2 was 1 lb 7 oz.  I will admit I have not been weighing them every day... I can see they are getting bigger and fatter right before my eyes! LOL. Licious is a great first time momma dog and is doing well. All is GOOD!

Now Momma Julia needs to get caught back up on sleep and laundry (I didn't mention that my washing machine lock mechanism broke and I could do laundry for a week until we replaced the part!) we all will be good.

We Are HERE!

Day 1
Well we must have bred late because she came early! She started whelping on the evening of Friday, February 24, with pups being born into the early morning hours on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Unfortunately we lost 3 pups that should have been viable (boy aspirated, boy placenta detached too soon, and patch girl stuck in birth canal too long), but we are so grateful for 2 girls! I am so disappointed I was not able to save the three, but there is nothing that could have been done, timing is everything, in most things in life. Another Life Happens moment.

The good news is that the 2 girls are doing great. There were no skinny or small puppies in this litter and they are getting chubbier by leaps and bounds. I am taking Licious' temperature a couple times a day and checking her teats to make sure she does not get mastitis with such a small litter. Also it is best to not overfed the dam, as that creates more milk, however, she needs nourishment to be healthy and produce milk. Smaller meals spread out over the day seems to help keep her in balance.

Birthweights: Girl #1 - 13 oz, Girl #2 - 13 1/4 oz

2 chubby girls 1 day old

We are Expecting!

I am behind on starting this blog so the dates may be off as I am playing catch up!

We have bred our pretty Licious to a handsome boy named Allen! I have yet to come up with the litter name and did receive several good suggestions from my Dal family. What keeps on coming to my mind is "Life Happens". Licious should have been shown and finished but alas life events happened that prevented me from getting out and showing much during that time-frame. Allen's sire and dam should have been shown and finished but once again... life happened and kids and other things and they did not get shown and finished. I did this breeding for the pedigree to carry on for the future and not so concerned about CH in front of everyone's name... although that would have been great.

Meet Allen... UKC CH INT CH Allstar Givens LB Going All In CGC BN

And here is Licious... JLS Just Liverlicious

Allen is a very striking upcoming young dog, well on his way to finishing his AKC Championship. He has a clean up and back and around. A natural free-stacker with beautiful strong level topline and croup. He has an elegant long neck and pretty feet, let alone his beautiful spotting. I saw him. I watched him. I met him, I liked him! Smart, handsome, and a "thinking" dog with personality.

Licious is a very pretty feminine girl with nice shoulder and rear angles that are balanced. She has a beautiful topline and flowing, easy side gait.

This pedigree combines some of our favorite "Cain", Am/Can Ch Igdaliah's M&M Candy Cain CDX ROMX descendants from the past. PEDIGREE
It should be a nice combination, dog to dog (phenotype) and pedigree (genotype).
